Taranaki Trophy Results 2016
Year 7 & 8 played a term long competition called the Taranaki Trophy. Below is the results for the term.
We also played an extra competition game called the Weir Cup (for rugby) and Rich Cup (for netball) this is played against Ngaere School. Where we won both games this season.
Round One:

Term 2 cluster debating 2016
In term 2 2016, 3 teams competed in the cluster debate. The 3 teams (a year 7 ,year 8 and mixed team) competed with the moot that pocket money should be earned with the year 8's against this moot saying that it should just be given.
Well the year 7 and mixed team wanted money to be earned they competed at Pembroke school with the year 8's (Max, Maz, Emma and Charlie ) debating against Ngaere. The year 7's (Sam, Arlo, Meg and Jess versing Midhrist and the mixed team (Suzannah, Abbey, Troy and Leah) facing off against Pembroke school.
Well the year 7 and mixed team wanted money to be earned they competed at Pembroke school with the year 8's (Max, Maz, Emma and Charlie ) debating against Ngaere. Taranaki Debating Year 7 Round 2
On Thursday 3rd June the Year 7 team of Abbey, Meg, Millie and Arlo competed against Bell Block School in a debate about "Everyone should be a vegetarian". Toko School agreed with the moot however narrowly lost to Bell Block on the day. Well done to all involved. We are now working on our debate writing about "Pocket Money should be earned". Wish us luck!

Anzac Assembly
On the 4th of May 2016 Toko School had our annual Anzac Ceremony. Rhys and I were lucky enough to get speaking parts along with a few other students. As we raised the flag all of Toko School stood for a minute of silence to remember those who had fallen at the war. Here a few photos to show our special time remembering.

Taranaki Debating - Round One
Taranaki Debating Competition started at the end of Term 1 2016. The Year 8 debating team of Peyton, Maz, Emma and Max F narrowly lost to Hawera Intermediate School on the last day of Term 1 to the moot that 'School days should be 2 hours longer' Toko was the affirmative in this debate.
The Year 7 debating team completed again Puketapu School on Wednesday 4th May and won their debate with the moot 'Computers should replace teachers' Toko was the negative team for this debate.
They will now advance to the 2nd round of the competition against Bell Block School with the moot 'Everyone should be a vegetarian'. I wish them well in the preparation of their debate.

Wicked Wheel House Competition

Marae Visit - Term 1 2016
Last week we went and visited the Marae at Stratford. The whole school went. We looked at some awesome things made out of flax.

Coding Fun with Room 2
Here is a small snapshot of some of the fun we had with Room 2 when we attempted coding at school using a makey makey and the coding programme Scratch.
